BCA provides its members with opportunities to participate in Lean, Six-Sigma and other process optimization programs.

BCA also facilitates education and support for benchmarking and sharing of best practices. These allow centers to collectively improve processes by becoming more efficient and driving cost out of operations.

Making processes effective drives cost out of the organization and increases the ability to better support BCA customers. BCA recognizes this dynamic and seeks ways to help members be the best they can be.

Specific ways BCA supports optimization of Blood Center processes include:

  • Best practice transfer and business intelligence through operational metrics published to the BCA dashboard and various network exchanges
  • Adoption of new technology facilitated through implementation work groups, sharing of practices, SOPs and machine efficiencies, as well as supporting functional beta sites for new product development.
  • BOOTS Training Program – Conducted since 2010 with a vendor partner, this program is segmented into various learning modules to provide training in areas such as Activity Based Costing, LEAN, Six Sigma, and demand forecasting.
